Advantage Behavioral Health Network Expands Behavioral Health Services with New Residential Facility in Scranton, Pennsylvania

Advantage Behavioral

Scranton, Pennsylvania (November 12, 2025)Advantage Behavioral Health Network (ABHN) is proud to announce the upcoming opening of a new 70-bed residential behavioral health facility in Scranton, Pennsylvania, slated to open in mid-2026.

The new facility represents a significant step in ABHN’s mission to expand access to high-quality mental health care across the East Coast. The residential center will provide 24/7 behavioral health support, offering comprehensive services including individual and group therapy, case management, holistic wellness programming, and on-site amenities such as a gym and community spaces designed to promote healing and connection.

Behavioral health needs in both the U.S. and Pennsylvania remain significant. Nationally, an estimated 61.5 million adults, about 23.4 % of the U.S. adult population, experienced mental illness in 2024 . Of those adults, only about 52.1% received treatment in the past year. In Pennsylvania specifically, more than 1.7 million people live in communities lacking an adequate number of mental health professionals. These figures underscore the urgency of expanding access to comprehensive behavioral health care.

To prepare for the facility, ABHN acquired a former nursing home in Scranton and partnered with the nonprofit organization Project C.U.R.E.to donate surplus medical and furniture equipment to support local and global health initiatives. On November 6, 2025, team members from ABHN and Project C.U.R.E. joined together to begin clearing and preparing the site for redevelopment.

“Advantage Behavioral Health Network is deeply committed to expanding access to behavioral health services in communities that need them most,” said Colin Studwell, CEO of ABHN. “This new residential facility represents our dedication to helping individuals build healthier lives by providing compassionate, high-quality care right here in Pennsylvania.”

Mr. Studwell emphasized that behavioral health should be as accessible and stigma-free as physical health care: “Our goal is to build spaces where people can heal, rebuild, and thrive. This facility is a strong investment in making that possible for more families across the region.”

The forthcoming residential program will extend Advantage’s continuum of care and serve as a vital next step for individuals who require a higher level of support. “The need for mental health services continues to grow across Pennsylvania,” said Jessica Maccarella, COO of ABHN. “This facility is the beginning of our efforts to expand meaningful access and eliminate barriers to care.”
